Our goal at Oil & Gas Product News magazine is to provide our readers – the professionals that make up the oil and gas industry – with innovative, interesting and up to date information on products, technologies, solutions and services available to help make their work easier and more efficient. We are always happy to receive article submissions that help us meet that goal.


General Guidelines

Please refer to our editorial calendar for a list of upcoming topics we are covering. This is available at ogpn.baumpub.com/magazine/advertise, under Media Planners. You can also read sample articles under Feature Stories or in the Digital Editions for each magazine.

Feature articles should be between 500 and 1,500 words according to the amount of detail required to properly communicate your story. Articles should have a purpose: to raise an issue, detail a new trend, expose a problem or explain a technique.

For case studies: A problem or challenge is presented. This could be something that affects the industry as a whole, or it could be a particular case study or customer success story. Specify details of the challenge. Explain why your particular company/product was able to address this challenge better than others offering similar products/services. What is it that is different and makes your product the best choice?

Informative, educational or topical articles: Highlight the latest issues, trends or standards that influence the oil and gas industry.

A sidebar can be a nice addition to explain a specific aspect of the story that requires emphasis or more detail, and is included in the total word count. Avoid an overly promotional tone; readers want the facts. Please notify us if the article has been run, or is scheduled to be run, in any other Canadian or U.S. magazine, or on any websites. Please submit the article as a Word or similar text document, NOT as a PDF file.

Articles should be accompanied by at least one image. For proper reproduction, we require images and graphics to be submitted at 300 dpi (ppi) as attachments – do NOT embed these materials into a PDF or Word document, as they are difficult for us to extract and generally too low a resolution to use. If images are large, send them by individual emails, or contact us to use our ftp service. Please ensure that images are identified with a descriptive file name. Include captions for the photos when appropriate.

Articles and photos sent to Oil & Gas Product News will be considered for use in our print edition as well as on our Web site. Submission of material will be considered permission for its use both in print and online; please ensure that Baum Publications Ltd. is granted copyright for such use prior to submission.

Oil & Gas Product News magazine cannot guarantee that all articles submitted will be published. We reserve the right to edit all submissions, such as for length or style.
